Code of Conduct

SHP'S have been trained to be polite and courteous at all times.

Horses will be handled calmly, and without any use of force. The owner of the horse is expected to be present to hold the horse, which should be handled, and used to picking up its feet. It may be reasonable for a trimmer to refuse to trim a horse that is dangerous, will not stand still, or allow it's feet to be picked up.

Trimmers are expected to arrive at the appointment time, or to make contact prior, should this not be possible.

All horses will have records kept for them, including photographs. The UK Strasser organisation has a recommended format for recording such information.

Your trimmer will make recommendations to help your horse transition to barefoot.

A trimmer may refuse to make another appointment, if the last one was not paid for.

A trimmer may refuse to continue trimming your horse, if the horse is not under the care of a vet.

A trimmer will explain the owners part in transitioning their horse to barefoot. If the owner is not able to commit the time/work/movement/lifestyle, provide correct terrain etc, the trimmer must advise that the transition will not be possible on this occasion.
